4th July 2020 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
As part of the Bromsgrove Festival we are holding a Come and Sing workshop on Saturday 4th July 2020 at Bromsgrove Baptist Church. During the day we will learn and perform a selection of music chiefly to include popular extracts from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. For those not familiar with this work it was written in 1936 and is based on a selection of 13th century poems and songs on the theme of life’s changing fortunes. The subjects of the songs include the joys of spring, the fickleness of love and the pleasures of drinking and gambling in the tavern! Most people will instantly recognise the dramatic and menacing opening movement ‘O Fortuna’, so often heard on film and TV (including the memorable ‘Old Spice’ advert). In fact Carmina Burana is one of the most frequently performed choral works of modern times.
If you fancy having a go at singing this exciting music then please join us for an informal and fun day. No previous singing experience is necessary to take part.
You should arrive at 10 a.m. to register. Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. There will be a break for lunch – there are a number of cafes around the corner in Bromsgrove High Street or bring a packed lunch. We aim to finish around 4pm. The cost is £10.
To secure your place you should send an email to email@example.com by 21st June giving your name and singing voice (soprano, alto, tenor or bass). You may pay on the day by cash or cheque (payable to Barnt Green Choral Society) or book your place in advance via the TryBooking website.
